Importing .OBJ with the materials

I've searched around quite a bit to figure this out.

When ever I bring an existing obj with mapped materials into blender, the materials never show up. Is there a workflow to reconnect them?

My advice would be to import the OBJ in Cycles mode, then back in Octane mode convert the materials.
