Live viewer not auto-updating for material changes?

Live viewer not auto-updating for material changes (modifications made on materials are not reflected in the Live Viewer until pressing send scene/update)
Cinema4D version 2023.1-[R5]

This was not happening for me in older releases, I have tried multiple of the revisions for 2023.1 but this seems persistent across them for me

Other changes DO update in the live viewer, but when modifying materials it requires that I press the update button ...

Is there maybe just a new setting I am missing somewhere?

"check material updates" IS ticked on, Just FYI

It is essentially functioning as if that is ticked off
