Hi.
A. Windows 11
B Nvidia RTX 4080 (laptop edition).
C 32gb of RAM
D Driver: 545.84
F Octane Plugin 28.3 beta
G. Blender 3.6.4
I Octane active and server too. New>Octane Default Startup
Trying to render an initial scene with the cube, it just shows a black screen and crashes If I use the escape button.
I can also see the Kernell preset tab saying "path not found." I can use the viewport, though. I can navigate the scene.
Thank you
Blender 3.6, Octane add-on crashing at render

I suspect that it's because you haven't set up the render node yet. What I do is to, once I have switched over to Octane as the renderer, change the editor type to the Octane Kernel. Select the "Quick-Add NodeTree" button. This creates the kernel nodes so Octane will render (you can change the kernel type in Render Properties panel under the "Octane Kernel" and the "Kernel" dropdown). This should fix your issue.

Are you using render region? There might be a bug in that, but I haven't tried it yet. Also they just released a new version for the plugin, might work better for you.

I installed the new version and I was able to get it to crash on me, just like it did for you. All I did was to hit F12 to render and it didn't display the render and eventually Blender crashed. It would also crash when I hit escape to stop the render. I did some more testing and it appears to be an issue with how the scene is setup, or in this case not setup completely.
I think I know what the issue is, the camera needs to be initialized. As long as I hit the 0 (zero) key on the number pad to look through the camera, I was able to render and not have Blender crash. If you do not, Blender will crash on an F12 render. I suspect that the Octane camera is not setup until you look through it or create a new camera.

If you're using the addon version, please be aware Render Region is not supported yet (as stated in the release post).
