Hello Everyone, I'm the owner/senior editor of VizWorld.com, a website dedicated to covering news in the Visualization, Graphics, and Visual Effects industries. Recently a former forum member here, 'UniqueD', took it upon himself to post a rather scathing comment on an older news item about the Octane Renderer.

Since then, I've seen a few of you rally together to try and correct his comment, and I've been contacted personally (via email) by a few of you asking that the comment be removed.

I came here to tell that, unfortunately, the comment will not be removed. I have some personal rules that I use to determine if a comment should be removed, and while his comment is rather poignant, it violates none of those rules: It contains no profanity, it contains no links, and it contains nothing obvious as spam.

Unfortunately, one of the distressing things of running a news organization like VizWorld is having to put up with opposing (and sometimes arrogant) viewpoints. Deleting such viewpoints leads to a single-sided view of things and violates the principles of a neutral news organization. My goal is to present all viewpoints, and leave it to readers to decide where they stand. As such, his views (while full of typos and bad grammar) are valid.

Now, with that said, I also have a method for you to participate in this discussion. I have the "comment rating" plugin enabled, so if you feel strongly enough that his comment should be removed, simply visit VizWorld and "thumb down" his comment. Once the Thumbs Down exceed the Thumbs Up by a particular threshold, his comment will be hidden from default view. I also welcome you to visit VizWorld and post your own comments, but please keep them civil.

Also, I invite the developers of Octane and employees of Refractive Software to provide us (VizWorld) with a copy of the Octane Renderer so that we can publish a full extensive review of the various strengths and weaknesses, allowing users to make their own conclusion about whether or not the software fits into their workflow.

If anyone has any questions or comments, don't hesitate to contact us at VizWorld and we'll be happy to talk to you.

That's a good idea, beta is for this month (as you can read in the "get octane" page)
Your blog is nice, and a review from you could be very favorable for your blog and for Refractive Software

I can't do anything myself, just wanna thank you for writing this message here
Good luck for your blog !

Hi guys,

I've got enough issues to worry about and stress currently,
i'd really like this situation to finally end and disappear, so we can get back to our work.
