Here is a sample using RailClone setup to use instances of geometry.

The basic Octane settings are as follow:
-The RailClone object must be set as 'Movable proxy' in Octane Object properties.

-'Use Direct geometry handler' must be enabled in Render setup / Support tab.

-Support type must be set to 'Direct' in Render setup / Support tab / RailClone.

The settings for RailClone (in object's 'Display / Build' ) :
'Use instancing engine' in 'Render'

Note that RailClone tries to use instances as much as possible, but depending on the various settings used to generate the final geometry,
some parts of mesh are unique. For example, when a clipping area is used, the base object can be 'cut',
or if the base object is set to follow a spline, it can be bent / stretched at different angles, resulting in different unique meshes.

In this sample, a long fence is set to follow a spline.

The number of meshes is an indication of the number of instances.

If we open the Octane Graph, we can see that there are 462 parts (Scatter nodes).
The first 5 scatter nodes are efficiently using instances (449, 15297, 30589, 15299, 449 instances).

But many other parts are unique (1 instance per scatter node), for geometry that became unique, like in the areas where the fence is bent to follow the curved spline..

The Various RailClone settings and complexity of the base objects have a big influence on how the final geometry can be decomposed in multiple instances.

HI NZ !
Is there a way to have a description of the scene as it is interpreted by octane for render ?
Like a text file ? a list of meshes , of images with their memory consomption ?
It would be a good way to learn how to optimize a scene.
Thanks :-)
