Hi,

I have 2 workstations (dual GPU), and a dedicated render box (6 GPU). I wanted to know is there a way to do the following:

On workstations, when a file is ready, send to the dedicated render box and it just renders whatever comes in the queue? Currently, network rendering requires that the workstation be outputing the file that's being done on the network render node box.

Thanks!

It's called headless rendering and it's on the roadmap since years but always pushed back. Apparently it's still planned for 2023 but I wouldn't have too much hope.

You can use Thinkbox Deadline, it's free since last year i think :)

Though you would need octane licenses and I think a c4d comman line license as well.

I have often used Cinema's Render Queue. Did you try that?

I think the OP meant if theres a way to keep working on your workstation on a different project while finishes c4d files render on the available rendernodes. Right now you need a running instance of c4d render via network. You can work with a workaround by opening a second instance of c4d but a) you need at least 2 GPUS in you workstation (one for rendering in instance 1 and the second for the other instance) and b) the whole thing gets pretty unstable.

Can you say something about the implementaion of headless rendering?

I have no useful information to add to that discussion, sorry.
