Hello fellow Octane users!

We've noticed the material caching has been improved a lot and it doesn't freeze viewport as much during the process. That being said the materials start caching only once shown in the viewport. You literally have to look at them at least once for them to start showing the albedo texture.

In this video example I'll allow for textures to be shown on objects (N-Q shortcut) and then I move the camera to reveal the tower and only then the actual Octane mats (the body of the tower is C4D mats) on the tower start caching their viewport previews.

Is there any way to force Octane to cache all the mats used in the scene? This is causing a lot of issues with viewport rendering during previzing for example. Thanks!

You have to make all objects are visible once of time and later it will not recalculate unless any change happen. It will not calculate when you reload the scene if you save it. This is the only possible way under current mechanism. Follow the way please

It unfortunately recalculates once you restart C4D and reopen the scene. There is no way one can save the material previews - well.. maybe there is a way but we're too dumb to find the correct checkbox :D .
But nonetheless thanks for the answer! If it's limitation of the current mechanism then no probs. The fast caching sort of solves this problem anyway.
