Hey there,
I'm just wanting to know if anyone has had success with the Octane AOV rendering with Thinkbox Deadline?
Beauty Octane renders work when the traditional 'Save' tick box is on in C4D render settings and you don't go through the AOV.
But I'm unable to get any renders working when I enable AOV.
My Guess is Deadline has built support for the AOV system yet?
It just throws the "ERROR: No Output image specified"
If anyone has had success or point to what I'm doing wrong then that would much appreciated.
Thanks,
Dean
Octane AOV Rendering with Thinkbox Deadline

Where I work we use deadline in combination with Rez to launch command line rendering. I think I have seen this error when the Cinema 4D save output is enabled but empty or just disabled. Can you also check that the render AOV checkbox in the Octane Renderer video post is enabled?
Also if you send a screenshot of the render settings, I can try to see if get the error on my job’s render farm

gifmotion,
Don't know if this will help...but I always use command lines to run my renders. I used to get this same error and it would dump out of the render. But I found a trick to get past it.
In your project, select C4D's Save and set a path to any temp folder (it won't be saving these) and then deselect the main Save checkbox, then save the project. (check the attached images)
This always allowed my renders to continue and get past the "No Output image specified" error.
May be worth a shot.

Hey guys,
Thanks for both of your replies.
These solutions have worked for me. I feel like it might have used to work when saving trough the C4D multipass way before they moved to AOV.
But now even when trying your methods I still have errors. Please see attached.

ShivaMist's solution is undoubtedly the better one since he knows your software.
In the case of commandline rendering, you should only deselect the Save on the left, not next to the file name.
To do this, you need to enable the one on the left, select Save next to the path, set the path, and just uncheck the one on the left after that. Leave the one over the path selected. (your picture shows them both deselected)
I don't know why but this has always allowed my renders to continue.

If you're curious, I set up my project the way I want Octane to render it, save it, then close down. Then I use a program called RunCmd and line my batches up with this command. You can stack as many jobs as you want. The program also give feedback as to what it's doing.
"C:\Program Files\Maxon Cinema 4D 2023\Cinema 4d.exe" -nogui -render "T:\Folder path to\Project.c4d"
"C:\Program Files\Maxon Cinema 4D 2023\Cinema 4d.exe" -nogui -render "T:\Folder path to\Project 2.c4d"

Amazing thanks guys. It worked.
For some strange reason it still rendered the Jpg sequence from the original C4D section?
But it rendered all the AOV stuff correctly which I'm happy about. So I guess I just will need to put up with the extra C4D render that it spits out.
Thanks for your help
