Is there a way of setting an Octane camera in c4d so you can have a specific distance from front to back in focus and the rest of the shot out of focus?

e.g. your focus point is 300mm from the camera, but you want anything between 275mm and 325mmm to be in focus, but anything outside that range to be blurry.

A bit like focus stacking in photography.

Since the model is rather "physically based", it's not possible. It would be in post, though.

In focus stacking, if your first stack is at 300mm, that will be in focus, not at 275mm. If you need 275mm in the physical world (real world photography), you set your first capture at 275mm an then stack to say 325mm.

As Octane is a a physically accurate render engine, you need to use real world sizes, lenses, and lighting properties. Whatever you do in real photography, you should be able to achieve something very close to it in Octane, just Octane gives you more flexibility like hiding lights from camera, hiding objects, etc.
