Hi all. I just wanted to update you on the plans for development of the Houdini Octane plugin.
Until now, it has been pretty much a one-person project (thanks @juanjgon!). OTOY are now expanding the team responsible for the plugin.
The first developer we've added to this team is myself. I've been working on the DAZ Studio Octane plugin for a while and I'm pleased to be working on the Houdini plugin in addition.
We plan to add more developers in the near future but we're not ready to announce them yet. As we ramp up the team we will be able to more quickly support new Octane features and work on cleaning up the backlog of issues.
Cheers,
Toby.

Yeees! So excited for this!
Octane is already the best render engine for Houdini in my opinion. If we can iron out some of the quirks it will be even better!

Hi. Currently, the Solaris plugin is developed separately from the main Houdini plugin. As far as I know, this is not changing, but I'm going to see what we can do to make the releases synchronized at least.Terryvfx wrote:Couldn't be happier! the Octane for Houdini plugin really need some love, as a side node can I ask about if this is also going to improve on the development of the Solaris side of things? as of right now it feels disjointed.
