Hello together,
I often want to visualize abc particles with Octane, for this I use the trick by importing the abc particles as polygon object and then using the Octane scatter tool to render.
This well-known trick has always worked well so far but unfortunately not anymore. C4D crashes when I want to visualize abc particles via the described way - what am I doing wrong or has the program changed here.
If so, can this be fixed, this functionality is very important for me or is there another way to visualize abc particles in Octane?
look forward to a short feedback

How do you generate abc? Can you share abc particles?

Hello aoktar,
I create the particles with Houdini (ROP-alembic), this workflow used to work.
I just built two test files with Houdini one with about 2.800 particles and yours with about 800.000 particles.
In the file with the 2,800 particles everything works, scatter on vertex and the polygon particles on the "surface" - everything works as I know it.
If I use the file with the approx. 800,000 particles, the system crashes - something is wrong.
The file with the 800.000 particles is too big, I can't split it, sorry.

The system crashes at this file with about 24,000 particles.

With the file with approx. 2,700 particles everything still works out

It's a crash because imported alembic geometry doesn't have vertex normals. It needs to be fixed on the plugin and I'm doing it.

Hello aoktar,
just a quick question what do you think by when you could have fixed this bug in the plugin - thanks a lot for your effort
