Hi Paul,

I might be wrong here, but I thought that I remember Octane also supporting the Rhino WIP/beta versions in the past.
Since R8 is already pretty mature, I wanted to ask if it would be possible to make Octane work with it.

Since I know they are also working on the material editor and so on, it might of course be impractical to do it now, in case it is a moving target.

I guess you are in contact with McNeel, can you tell us what is planned and how soon (or not...) we can expect octane to work with R8?

thanks

Andreas

Hi Andreas

https://discourse.mcneel.com/t/welcome- ... ngeti/9612 states "All Rhino 7 plugins might work with Rhino 8; let us know if they don’t.". Is the plugin working for you?

I have not yet installed Rhino 8. From what I have read, it is month (years?) away from being released. I will install next week to take a look. You are right - the install path looks quirky.

I have escalated this to McNell. Please see https://discourse.mcneel.com/t/plugin-n ... wip/157719 for details.

McNeel have answered my question, and I think I can resolve it, although it will take some work (as I need to swap out some of the libraries that the current release of the plugin uses). I will try to get this done for the Octane 2022.1.1 version of the plugin (available in a week or so).

Thanks
