Hi,
I`m on a MacbookPro with AMD 5500M Graphics Card. I was using Octane X PR14 Prime on Monteray for Cinema 4d R26 so far.
Now my OS got upgraded to Ventura and it seems PR14 Prime is not usable anymore. Is there a PR14 Prime built for Cinema 4D that runs in Ventura?
Thanks

Hi Josh,joshuathomas wrote:Hello,
I also have same issue as in this thread with Octane X stopping working on my Macbook M1 on Monterey. When I try to redownload the Octane X classic from the App Store and open it, I'm getting \U201Coctane\U201D is damaged and can’t be opened. Delete \U201Coctane\U201D and download it again from the App Store
Could you let me know if a solution to this issue was found?
Thanks,
Josh
OctaneX Standalone Classic is for AMD/Monterey only, and unfortunately the version on Apple App Store is damaged.
Anyway, you need OctaneX Standalone 2022.1 for M1/M2:

No sorry, you need to go back to Monterey to be able to use OctaneX PR14.LeoSch wrote:Hi,

Hey Beppe,
Since "A free version of the Octane X standalone App is available exclusively through Mac App Store" but Octane Classic is broken on the App Store is there anyway we can get a functional download that doesn't require a studio or enterprise account (or at least an ETA on when we can expect Classic to be working again?).
Thanks

I'm evaluating Octane after using Arnold for Cinema 4D (C4DtoA) for the past five years or so (mostly the CPU version on an HP workstation).
I'm experiencing the issue of Cinema 4D locking up when I close the LV window.
I'm on a 2022 Mac Studio with an Apple M1 Ultra with 128 GB of RAM running OS 13.1 Ventura. I have the free trial version of Octane X Prime for Cinema 4D (Ventura version downloaded from here: https://render.otoy.com/shop/primex.php) installed into a brand new install of Cinema 4D R26.
(I'll note that I'm hopelessly confused by all of the various iterations of Octane out there. Is this free version identical to some paid version? Beats me.)
My initial test scene was working fine, and I was able to repeatedly open and close the LV with no issues. But upon quitting C4D and then reopening the scene I found that closing the LV would produce a spinning beachball, requiring a Force Quit of C4D.
After a bunch of tests and troubleshooting I found I could prevent the LV lockup on existing scenes with this procedure:
Launch C4D and create a new/empty scene
Open the LV (you don't even have to activate a render)
Close the LV
Open the old scene and work normally. Closing the LV will NOT lock up Cinema 4D. It's like the LV has to be "primed" in an empty scene.
Weird. As I note above, I don't know whether a licensed version of Octane would be exhibiting these issues, too. I see that someone on the Cinema 4D plugins forum is having LV issues, too, but I can't post there.
Cheers.

Hi! I have an issue similar to the post before...
When I open the Live Viewer and close it, or when I render a sequence and then try to close Cinema4D on Apple M1 Ultra, Cinema 4D freeze.
I use a Mac Studio M1 Ultra, Cinema 4D 2023 latest version, everything updated, Octane latest stable version for mac.
Some suggestions to avoid that?

I just downloaded Octane X 2022.1.1 which mentions improved MacOS performance and I'm happy to report the improvement is HUGE.
The OctaneXBench_VolumeDenoiser scene that Beppe provided is rendering in 30 seconds on my M1 Max Macbook Pro, compared to 44 seconds on 2022.1
Super excited to try it out on C4D.
People with M2 Max Macs, please download 2022.1.1 and re-run the benchmark, I wonder if there are bigger improvements for you.

I can confirm that ...
A frame from a current project took the following time to render+denoise:
M2 Max / Octane 2022.1: 26 Seconds
M2 Max / Octane 2022.1.1: 19 Seconds!
For comparison: Win 11 3080ti Desktop / Octane 2022.1.1: 9 Seconds
Well done, OTOY!

I am using a MacBook Pro M1 Pro 16GB RAM 16Core GPU
My render times for VolumeDenoiser are:
Standalone 2022.1 - 1m 22s
Standalone 2022.1.1 - 54s
Very impressive performance increase!
Thanks
Garry
