how do you go about using octane for houdini with deadline? I have it installed on the render nodes and it loads but its looking for a license. is there a render node version of octane or do i need to export to orbx file first ? seems deadline doesnt support the lasted octane stand alone just 2019 . what the best way to setup octane and houdini to render on deadline ?
thanks

Sorry, I have no experience with Deadline, so I can't help you with the configuration, but from the licenses point of view if you are rendering Houdini .hip scenes you are going to need a Houdini engine license (for hython) and an Octane render node license in each render node. The good news is that as far as I know, now at least 10 Octane render node licenses are included with the Studio+ subscription. If you don't have the Houdini licenses, you could try to export .orbx files from your workstation to later render them in the nodes, but I'm not sure if/how Deadline handles this.
Hope it helps,

2023-02-22 09:36:49: 0: STDOUT: 09:36:49 ERROR: [license] ----------- ERROR: Can't authenticate the Octane license: activation cancelled

Can you please send an email to [email protected] asking for these licensing questions? The licensing team will help you to configure the additional render nodes and so on. I'm not aware of how this stuff works.
