Hi,
Yesterday I installed a new Octane 2022.1-[R4].
Do you have other apps/plugins running at the same time?
No, but if something is open, the behavior of the plugin is exactly the same.
This is not on the video, but if I have a corona material in the scene, but it is not applied to the object (s), then this causes the program to crash when the LV window is turned on. Is it supposed to be like this?
I am attaching a link to a video on YouTube, which shows the strange behavior of the plugin.

and of course thank you very much for your help and advice

Does it mean using a Mac other than M1/M2 as primary WS won't be possible ever ?bepeg4d wrote:Hi James,
one of the features of the upcoming new 2023.1 SDK is the Headless rendering feature.
In practice, it will be possible to add a Mac or PC via LAN as if it were an eGPU - connected to M1/M2 Mac or iPad Pro M1/M2 as primary workstation.
Stay tuned...
ciao,

No, PC render nodes are not yet compatible with Mac OS/Metal. As I understand it, the task turned out to be significantly more difficult than anticipated. When? If you've spent some time in the industry, you know that it's not wise to ever give hard dates for this kind of thing.northalex78 wrote: Can we use PC render nodes and work on M1 Macs, yet?
If not, when?
Some people just hate windows. We do.
Otoy is clearly "committed" to Mac ecosystem. Witness Octane on iPad. You can spend resources on this? (what even is the use-case of such a weak machine?)
So when can we have seamless and full parity between Win and Mac versions, please.
Mac users are currently limited to 2020.2.5, and now (thanks to license consolidation lack of forethought from Otoy) no render nodes, though we've paid for them.
Or they can work on an M1, laptop, Mac Mini, iPad, or Studio Ultra. But can we render to PC nodes?
Why is Octane on iOS? I don't think it's because anyone really expects to do heavy lifting production 3D on that platform (at least not in the near term), but because Otoy has a much bigger, longer-term plan for what role Octane can play in content delivery, not just content creation. We 3D animation folks may be their current primary customers, but I suspect Jules & Co. see us as an important stepping stone to a much broader product offering across multiple industries.

Hi,
bepeg4d , I can not write and send you a message because I am not an authorized user.
Please also run the following tool, and share the resulting .zip file with me (you can skip the ticket number part when asked)
I installed OTOY System Profiler and the program asks me to enter a Ticket Number, without which I also cannot send a system report.
I returned to Cinema 4D R25 and now everything works fine and without crashes.

I just want to say that for me Octane X have been absolutely fantastic.
I have of course had my challenges with the first versions, and it is always difficult to know where to find the latest version.
As an product designer I use Autodesk Fusion 360 for the design work, and import (stp-files) to C4d / Octane X to do renderings and animations. And it works great for me.
Octane X was the reason that I started using c4d in the first place, because it was possible for me to stay in the Mac ecosystem.
My e-gpu was working with Octane on my iMac 2019. I wish there was a way to add an e-gpu to my M1? Maybe I should try RNDR if it works with Octane X.
I look forward to the next version. Keep up the good work:-)

Hi Beppe... Sorry I haven't had a chance to follow up until now. Unfortunately for me on Mac Studio Apple M1 Ultra (with 20-core CPU, 64-core GPU, 32-core Neural Engine 128GB unified memory 4TB SSD storage) running Ventura 13.0.1 (22A400) and C4D 2023.1.3 with build 2022.1 c4dOctane-R2023.xlib dated Nov 25 2022 1:41pm (https://render.otoy.com/plugindownloads ... OSX_m1.zip) I am constantly freezing any time I close the Live Viewer whether it's docked or not.bepeg4d wrote:Ok, I was not able to reproduce the issue on M1 here, c4doctanex 2022.1-R3 is rock solid in C4D 2023.1.3 under macOS 13 Ventura:
So, I have installed Monterey on another partition, and I can confirm the same behavior with C4D 2023.1 and c4doctanex 2022.1, if you close Live View window, C4D freeze. and you need to force quit!
Updating C4D to 2023.1.3, and c4doctanex to 2022.1-R3 don't help, unfortunately![]()
But if you go back to C4D R25 or 26, there is no issues in closing Live View!
To recap:ciao,
- if you are already under macOS 13 Ventura with M1/2, c4doctanex 2022.1 works with no issues in C4D R2023, or 25 or 26.
- if you are still under macOS 12 Monterey with M1/M2, please use C4D R25 or 26 with c4doctanex 2022.1, and avoid to use C4D 2023

From aoktar's updated link on comment one from this thread I just installed "Cinema4D 2022.1-[R5] (Latest stable) (12.01.2023)" (https://render.otoy.com/customerdownloa ... OSX_m1.zip) build c4dOctane-R2023.xlib dated Jan 2 2023 11:38pm.
The only other things loading into C4D are Redshift 3.5.12 (Maxon One Bundle), CV Toolbox, and Insydium Fused Build 1489. Everything else is clean install.
I haven't put it to the challenge yet, but a few simple tests seem like this newer version is no longer crashing, so I will remain hopeful. But I will continue to update.
There are certainly many of us just as guilty.spectacle wrote: Oh sorry, that was me. I was refreshing to see if AMD or network render was supported.

But for the closest to an official statement I've seen, you can look here:
