i have tried many settings (from the obvious as denoise) but still noise

Is because the render still in development?

my question about Octane X for M1 Max C4D
Does the denoiser work perfectly? Or maybe I'm missing something in the settings

Denoiser works great with M1/M2 here!
Much faster than Intel/AMD, even with M1 base!
Have you tried with 2022.1?

So this file is still giving me an issue. When I open it and work on it without opening the Live Viewer it's all good. I can then open Live Viewer and it renders beautifully. However if I close the Live Viewer I get a pretty consistent crash to a beach ball which needs a force quit. This is a heavily procedural render with the geometry being constructed on the fly with Spline Masks and a lot going on. Could this be the issue? Anyway sadly I have had to switch to Redshift to continue with this layout and File

I am using Octane X For Cinema 4D 2022.1 on an M1 Max MacBook Pro Monterey 12.6.1 and Cinema is 2023.1.3

Hi RegSquires,
from what you have written, I suppose that plugin is not correctly installed, so you are having a conflict

I can play with your scene, and open/close Live View without issues here:

Please, share a screenshot like this one, that shows both the c4doctane directory opened, and the entire installation path, thanks:

Here it is. Doesn't look like your install. Where do I get this installer from? Have to say it is one of the more confusing aspects of Octane. But I guess its also the fact that the M1 version is so bleeding edge

Here is the crash. Sorry for the poor quality but it does show I am able to open the file play with it change settings but then when I close the live viewer it crashes. Every time. Now whether this is a file specific thing, or maybe my computer, I cannot work with this. I have wasted a ton of time trying to get it to work and even though it appears to work elsewhere this is zero use to me. Again I love Octane I really do but I cannot use itr when I know it will do stuff like this to me.

I just started having the same issue on Mac Ultra Studio after updating to C4D 2023.1.3 yesterday - running Octane 2022.1-[R2]. Everything was working fine before Maxon updated from 2023.1.2, but now every time I close the Octane live viewer, C4D locks up and I have to force quit. I will try to install OctaneRender-Prime-for-C4D-2022.1-RC3_OSX now to see if the same thing happens, otherwise I will see if I can go back to C4D 2023.1.2

**EDIT**
Update 1: I realized OctaneRender-Prime-for-C4D-2022.1-RC3_OSX didn't say "M1" so I just downloaded OctaneRender-Prime-for-C4D-2022.1_OSX_m1.zip and reinstalled, and so far it's not crashing. I also noticed the live viewer window now says "Live View [Studio+] 2022.1"

Update 2: Further discovering in the confusion of the many different links and places to download versions, I now currently have "OctaneRender-Prime-for-C4D-2022.1_OSX_m1.zip" installed with the c4dOctane-R2023.xlib creation date of Nov 25 2022 1:41pm, but when it was crashing I must have had "OctaneRender-Prime-for-C4D-2022.1_R2_OSX_m1.zip" installed with the c4dOctane-R2023.xlib creation date of Dec 10 2022 12:27pm. Now that I see these are indeed the differences, I will once again install the dec 10 build to see if it crashes or if it just needed a fresh install with permissions after the C4D upgrade.

Update 3: Fresh install of "OctaneRender-Prime-for-C4D-2022.1_R2_OSX_m1.zip" installed with the c4dOctane-R2023.xlib creation date of Dec 10 2022 12:27pm having to grant OS permissions has resulted in seemingly stable performance again. Live viewer window now reads "Live Viewer 2022.1-[R2]"

Try reinstalling Octane after you updated C4D to 2023.1.3

That seemed to work for me (for now)

Big thanks SioPio for the solution!
I have skipped to update C4D to 2023.1.2, and updated directly to C4D 2023.1.3, so probably this is why I was not able to reproduce the issue here

@RegSquires:
can you confirm that updating C4D to 2023.1.3 solves the issue to you too?

ciao,
Beppe
