Hey, dear developers!
Hey @neonZorglub
We have another issue with Ornatrix + Octane similar to what we have already discussed in this thread - viewtopic.php?f=27&t=80910
Video:
I recorded it on August 24, 2021, But I also checked this bug on newer versions...
Timing:
Timing:
0:00 - Showing the Ornatrix version and its settings
0:12 - Create Plane
0:21 - Add Furball preset
0:33 - Turning on 100% hair in the viewport
0:39 - Add Edit Guides over HairFromGuides to edit hair, not guides.
0:43 - Choose a brush to create RGB color channels
0:46 - Creating these channels
1:12 - Selecting All RGB Channels and Painting by RGB Channels
1:20 - Selecting different colors and dyeing the hair. We see that when Arnold and Arnold-material are selected, everything works in viewport
2:37 - Let's choose Octane Renderer (I checked it on the newer version too) and assign Octane Hair material
2:52 - We see that the color display is gone... there is a bug
3:41 - I tried to add Color Vertex node and still can't see the color...
Then I decided to test your method with the standard and other materials from that thread. I recorded a video today (December 15, 2022). Hope this will help understand what to do next or maybe fight with Autodesk and Ephere from your side too =)
Video:
Timing:
0:05 - Showing that the Arnold Standard Hair material works.
0:19 - Selecting Octane and assigning Octane Hair. The color disappears.
0:36 - I go to the forum and read your tips for assigning other materials
0:55 - Trying to assign Octane Shadow Catcher
1:02 - And Yay! Everything works.
1:17 - Portal Material too
1:37 - Standard Scanline material, too
So the issue in Octane Hair Material and we should do something with this.
Thank you and have a great day
Best regards,
Andrew.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for summarize the issue.
As the problem comes from materials having sub materials, I might be able to add an option as a work around.
(I'll try to 'hide' the Octane sub materials, if no Material Layer is used.)
So, if the color display if not fixed on the Ornatrix side, you should be able to edit hairs with Octane materials.
If this work around works, this should be added in the next release.
Thanks
