Hey there,
It's time to put my 5930k to rest as it's showing it's age and need some advice.
Here's my current rig:
5930k (Noctua NH-U12S)
X99S-SLI-Krait-Edition MB
48GB DDR4 (8GB sticks)
6x SATA SSD
2x RTX3080
EVGA 1200 P2 PSU
HAFX Case
What I have in mind:
i7 12700KF (keeping the NH-U12S with new bracket)
MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI D4
New RAMS since new MBs only support 4 slots I can't use my old RAMs. I'll probably get cheap Gskill/Kingston 16gb sticks to get 64GB in total
Probably get 2 M2 drives and make the SATA SSD's back up drives
I will keep the GPUs
Keep the PSU
Keep the case (I mean, c'mon...)
Would this make sense? I want to save some money on the MB but the PCI-E expansions are causing problem. Since I have 2 GPU's one would be going into PCI5 16x but most z690 or lower MBs don't offer meaningful PCI slot for the second GPU. Mostly PCI3 4x which is a bit slow.
I was thinking of getting Asus Prime Z690-P D4 at first because of it's PCI4 4x slot but it's too close to the PCI5 slot which would choke my upper GPU.
Thanks!
