Can anyone from refractive software please clarify what and when data is exchanged between my computer and the Live DB?
Are my preferences stored online, or how long I work with octane or whatever?
Is there some privacy statement regarding this system?

Unfortunately i can't comment as this would expose how the anti-piracy system works.
I can guarantee that the only user/ID information that's stored on the server is your forum username,
and the 3 strings that you can edit in the account preferences panel (your name/credits information).
No personal information is accessed/exchanged, and we do not measure any statistics of use.
