Hello,
I've heard a lot about the Anime Kernel but it's not available for Octane C4D yet. Is this planned in the future ? Or will it never happen ?
Thanks!
Anime kernel for C4D ?

Hi,
we are still in alpha stage for 2021.1 SDK, the core devs are still working to add all the planned features.
When finished, the Anime Kernel will be available for Standalone and all DCC plugins, c4doctane included.
Happy GPU rendering,
ciao Beppe

hi,
the Toon Shader works with any Octane kernel (AO, PT, PMC) and it is great, but has issues with edges (plane edges).
Anime Kernel is part of the new Multi-Render system that is going to arrive in 2021.1 SDK (with Brigade, Arnold, Cycle and others):

So it is definitely more complex than a shader node, it brings full raytraced edges, and will be even independent from OctaneRender core.

It's a whole separate renderer that will sideload into the AOV compositor through a new system being added this year called "multi-render" - this will also be used to load Brigade (DL/info/PT experimental builds during beta), as well as 3rd party hydra render delegates including Cycles, Arnold, Pixar Storm and many others.lalalem wrote:Hello,

A personal sandbox/experimental renderer project from an individual on his free time, might be relatively "basic". However, developing a production ready software on par with software development standards, through a software company, is entirely different. Actual software development is highly underestimated by many who are not familiar with it.GXGsynth wrote:and seems fairly basic compared to photon kernel caustics
