I'm on a Macbook m1 max, C4d 25.01, Octane X Monterey 12. When I load a HDR pic from the Asset Browser and assign it to an Octane sky, it renders black. I can see the texture loaded correctly in the Project asset Inspector and Octane's Texture manager. Any idea what's going on? The HDR renders correctly if I load it from a regular folder,
Hi,
the support for C4D 2023 is not ready yet.
Please stay with C4D R26 or previous versions for now.
@ popcorn3234: for M1/M2 macs, please install the following version, native for Apple Silicon GPUs (Rosetta mode must be disabled):
https://render.otoy.com/plugindownloads ... R3_OSX.zip
ciao,
Beppe

Hi,
At the moment I'm testing Redshift to see If that could be a replacement for Octane X. My first impressions are not very good. Octane is so much more intuitive. I guess I'll stick to Octane on my Intel Mac and 6900XT as long as possible. let's see what kind of Mac Pro Apple will be releasing and what GPU power they can deliver. I keep hoping they will be able to develop some sort of EGPU for Apple Silicon. If not, it's a dead end for me.

I’m also trying out Redshift. Yes, Octane is much more intuitive and much easier to learn, but basicly, once you have learned Octane, it is much easier to move to Redshift. And oh boy, di I enjoy working with it! I have been messing with it about a week and it has not crashed. Not even once! And denoiser works!!!olavo wrote:Hi,

I just remembered that Jules started to talk about Octane v2022 almost a year ago in November. On March or April this year someone from helpdesk told me that v2022 is just around the corner. I’m afraid there won’t be stable version of Octane v2022 before year changes to 2023. At least not C4D plugin and not for latest version of C4D.
Don’t get me wrong - I love Octane. I’m just tired of waiting for a stable and workable version and all those crashes and restarts. And most of all, I’m tired of all those empty promises!

Hi Bepe , very noisy useless render , how to enable denoising?
I see only "use denoised beauty pass" , but no result
New Standalone 2022.1-XB4 with AI Denoiser support for Apple Silicon M1/M2, and a tons of fixes:

New plugins will follow asap.
@tolitoli: you need to wait for the next version for denoiser, in the meantime, avoid to enable any denoiser option, or the render will never finish.

I too would like some indication of future Mac-pro support. Several people has asked about this this recently and think that simply not commenting isn't acceptable. Given how much OctaneX was pushed on the back of the 2019 mac they owe it to users be upfront if they have dropped future development rather than being silent on it and hoping it goes unnoticed.SRCOBB wrote:I have a 2019 Mac Pro desktop that I'll be paying off for several more years.. please tell me there will be a Mac update that is NOT M1/M2 ONLY.
