Hi guys,
Im using C4D R23 with Octane 2021.1.5-R4.
When rendering in C4D Picture viewer, a frame of my animation takes 21 min.
After exporting an Orbx and renderening it in standalone it takes only 7 Minutes.
It is my first time actually using standalone, so please excuse if I'm stating the obvios.
I know it is supposed to be faster than the plugins, but 3x as fast seems odd to me. Is this normal?
C4D Plugin way slower than Standalone

Not! It's about having same performance. Probably something is not equal in your comparisons.

Strange. I didn't touch the settings. Its the same resolution, same Samples, same AOVs and everything.
I simply rendered the scene in C4D, then exportet the orbix and rendered the same thing out Standalone via Batchrendering. What could I have missed?

Yes but you're missing that data preparation stage may take much time. Plugin does it during animation render. It's not a part of pure rendering.henningricke wrote:Strange. I didn't touch the settings. Its the same resolution, same Samples, same AOVs and everything.

Scene preperation did take some time, since it was a big scene, but it was only around one minute.
What took C4D so long was the actual rendering.

What you compare that's the number of sampling speed. It's like XXXX ms/sec in render stats.henningricke wrote:Scene preperation did take some time, since it was a big scene, but it was only around one minute.
