Dear Ahmet
thanks for your work, but we need to earn our living with this software, we do not sit and render for fun...or render only one frame, we produce animations lots of frames!!
So it is/was a kind of big decision to accept all this small problems and instabilities of octane.
And after this short time, to say: ok we don t care anymore for our clients with intel mac pro, because its much easier to go on with apple silicon processors only.
There was no version running really on good on Intel Mac Pro.

This is a clear hit in the face. Sorry no excuses...
One year ago you told everybody to buy these machines, now throw them away. Than buy new licenses from wonder house otoy... ?? For what??

This is absolute insanity.

We've gone from there maybe being feature differences between AMD and Apple Silicon to AMD being abandoned entirely.

Octane X held such promise that I went out of my way to make sure my old trashcan Mac Pro could limp along and crank out a few decent renders. When it died for good and I finally had to replace it, I hadn't expected to get less than two years out of a new machine before it too was obsolete— not mechanically but because you screwed over everyone who took your advice and upgraded. Yes, some of that is Apple's fault and they deserve every ounce of derision and frustration we throw their way. But it's not Apple that's losing subscriptions because, after three years, you still don't have a stable fully-featured version of Octane X and have no intention of ever supporting the customers that supported you along the way.

I cannot say I didn’t see this coming. But still it feels really bad. My investment is now becoming worthless.
Already looking at Redshift, but will this be a solution? AMD is supported for now, but for how long. Apple Silicon will fade out all previous systems, so they better bring a really powerfull silicon MacPro and maybe a silicon Egpu solution before we all switch to Windows. I feel bad that I didn’t decide that long time ago. I feel bad…

Still thankful for all the development that you invested in Octane X and the plug-ins.

Is the non-AMD compatibility a temporary thing? I keep hoping that as this is a development build, that is the case. I just built a hackintosh with 2 AMD gpus, as M1 didn't work properly with Octane (it still doesn't). Feels like Octane X is dying?

Btw what's the problem with M1 and OctaneX? It's fine here.

VDB Object didn't work amongst other things: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=79003&p=408206#p408206 if that's fixed now, great. But the main issue was the speed, Octane X didn't utilise the M1 speed like Redshift does, which (if I'm not mistaken) is as powerful as as one 3090 GPU. Is that rectified now too? Sorry, I only skimmed through this thread and it looked like it hadn't

Yeah I'm def jumping ship for Redshift. Literally years of using betas with promises that any day now things will be great. My studio needs stable Maya/Houdini MacOS/AMD rendering.

This is latest OctaneX based 2022.1-XB3 and it's just for M1 Macs right now. It matches the latest development version.

Heh. The RS forum is full of users complaining about instability on Mac/AMD.

The problem is Apple. They have a hit on their hands will M1/M2 and have zero motivation to bother with other people's hardware.
