Editing Multilayered EXR for AE in PS

Hi,

I want to make changes in Photoshop to single frames from a multi layered EXR (Octane) still sequence. It is a rendered cryptomatte layers animation. If I work on the crypto beauty layer only in PS and save the EXR with EXR-Io I only get black frames in After Effects. Any ideas how to make the corrected crypto EXR show in AE correctly?

Can someone please explain why multilayer EXR Octane cannot be edited in Ps and shown in AE? Or is there some kind of workflow?
