Is it possible to animate a materials property in a host app for animated scenes and is updated while rendering in octane.

Sorry, unfortunately this is not rerally possible. At the moment the things that can be animated are geometry (including UVs) and the camera. The system us currently not setup for more complex animations.

In the not too distant future we will have to improve the connection between 3D apps and Octane. This should also improve the possibilities of animations. Unfortunately there are also lots of other things to do... But we will get there eventually.

Cheers,
Marcus

Could we at least be able to animate the emission property of a material in say, Maya, and when the scene is translated Octane uses the exported emission property?

Alternatively, could you document exactly how properties in an OBJ's MTL file are interpreted? I would be happy to develop a proper export script that effectively enables animation as a series of OBJ-MTL file pairs.

Best,
Ben
