Hi there,
I'm considering switching from Redshift to Octane.
I've used Octane in the past: at the time, crashes were quite frequent.
I decided to give it another try, and I see crashes are not gone.
I'm using C4D R21, and Octane Render Demo 2021.1 (11000014), on Windows 10, (2) 1080ti (driver 472.84), ThreadRipper 1950x.
The scenes I'm testing it with are quite simple: no animation, just a few textures no bigger than 4k, basic lighting.
Most of the time I'm just using the live viewer, direct lighting + GI Diffuse.
The weird thing is, sometimes it doesn't even crash while I'm previewing the scene, it happens by simply opening the Octane settings dialog up.
Am I missing something, or Octane's stability hasn't improved much?
Octane stability, how much has improved?

Hi,
if everything is installed correctly, it should be pretty stable, but you are testing an outdated version.
Please make sure to have updated Win 10 to 2004 or greater.
Then please perform a clean installation of 472.84 Nvidia Studio driver:
https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverR ... 4240/en-us
If this version does not work, please try with the DCH version:
https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverR ... 4239/en-us
To perform a clean installation, please follow these steps:

Then please upgrade c4doctane to the latest demo 2021.1.4 version:
https://render.otoy.com/plugindownloads ... .4-win.rar
Please use 7zip to uncompress the .RAR archive, it is free:
https://www.7-zip.org/
Then, please, go to c4d menu Script or Extensions/Console, (Shift+F10), and share a complete screenshot of the panel, or copy paste the default console output in your answer, thanks.
Please, also share a screenshot like this one, that shows both the c4doctane directory opened, and the entire installation path, thanks:

ciao,
Beppe

Thank you so much for your help.
I updated the drivers (I actually used DDU).
As for the plugin location, in my case is in the appdata folder.
Here's a screenshot of the console. Only the bottom part is left off, as it's about the X-Particles license.
Also, the text doesn't wrap, so the line about the plugins is particularly long.

I did some quick test, so far seems to be working fine.

Great, everything seems ok from console.
Happy GPU rendering,
