Hello: I am currently looking into unbiased renderers to be used with SolidWorks. Is there any plan to easily export Solidworks formats or perhaps provide an Addin?

Can you export a .obj file from Solidworks?
Kubuntu 9.04 | Nvidia Gainward 9500 GT | Intel Core2 Quad 2.40 Ghz | 4 GB RAM
You are Steve Orzel, the industrial designer ?
What are the export options you have in solidworks, I never used solidworks
edit: don't forget that Octane is currently in demo, beta is coming this month

Ok, a quick google tells me no, but a quick google and a short install and you can find an obj exporter for solidworkd easily.
Kubuntu 9.04 | Nvidia Gainward 9500 GT | Intel Core2 Quad 2.40 Ghz | 4 GB RAM
Octane also gonna support Collada or FBX or both
Maybe Solidworks can export these ?
Do you have any other 3D package that you can use with Solidworks that can convert solidworks files ?
Maybe take a look at Polytrans by Okino its very well know 3D converter in the cad world
If you scroll down a little bit on this page http://www.okino.com/conv/filefrmt_3dimport.htm
There's support for solidworks, and after having the file loaded in Polytrans you can export to a lot of formats not supported by Solidworks

I have used Maxwell render as an addin to Solidworks and it is really quite convenient to set things up in Solidworks and then send it to render. Files can expand without re-exporting and reassigning materials etc. If I use Maxwell outside of Solidworks using STL files it adds another layer of work. Maxwell is already a big investment in time.
Its nice Maxwell support Solidworks
Maybe you should wait Octane beta, or when Octane gonna have support for external plugins
But someone gonna need to write a plugins for supporting solidworks, and I don't think that dassault systems care about Octane right now
Sycode also sell a Wavefront OBJ file export add-in for SolidWorks
But for 100$ more you can get Okino Polytrans wich do a lot of other file formats
OBJ is kinda strange for people working in CAD or with Nurbs

You can always try this . Its 3d viewer and converter. It supports some 3d formats i think You will find something there. Very usefull if you got problems with exporting or converting.
