Hey everyone,
So I was having problems with error 700 on an RTX 3090 which I found a bit odd and only in one specific scene but I realized my TDR delay was a bit high and had read that MSI after burner can cause issues for some people. I upped my TdrDelay to 60 and uninstalled afterburner and the issue resolved it's self but I have found my card runs hot so I don't love the idea of not being able to control the fan curve. I was running a vectron render, 3.4 / 24gb of ram used, 100% gpu as expected, and I started artifacting just a little on my second monitor. This of course worried me but I just now ran individual stress tests. One on JUST the gpu and then one on the vram, and no artifacting even under 100% load for hours. I then ran them together at the same time and noticed my VRam temps were getting pretty up there (encroaching on 90c). I stopped the test then. I think I was artifacting from cumulative heat. Unfortunately for my exact model 3090 there isn't a water block or backplate yet, at least that I can find, so I am sorta stuck with air cooling for the time being. Air was running fine with afterburner but the scene wasn't even loading with it installed.
I am wondering if there is an alternative to afterburner that anyone might know of that isn't associated with cuda error 700 issues?
Solution for fan control in lieu of msi after burner?
