Hi everyone,

I have a fairly simple scene in Cinema 4D with an element I'm trying to render out in Alpha with post processing included. I've added bloom and glares as post processing, but I can't seem to figure out a way to render the post processing out with alpha. I've tried enabling the render passes in the render settings and within that enabling the "post" passes in the "beauty passes", but it doesn't seem to work. Can you help me?

Thanks!

Thank you so much for your answer Beppe!

I'm fairly new to Octane, so bare with me.

I've tried following your guide in that post, but I just can't get the glares to be rendered out as well. I get a post-processing layer in the photoshop file, but it doesn't have the glares only a kind of blur.

Is there anyway you can post some screenshots of what to tick off and on in the render settings?

Hi,

Here’s a thread that goes over it: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=77648

Ok, here is a completely different approach.
I have used the OctaneRender Compositor in Render Settings/OctaneRender/AOV groups tab to obtain an enhanced version of the Post Effect AOV, and masking it with the Inverted Alpha channel of the Beauty pass:

There is also a Color AOV to check the result on the right.

In this way, in Photoshop, you just need to Linear Add the Out1 AOV on top of the Beauty, or Denoised Beauty AOV:

Here is with same blue background for comparison.

And here is the example scene:

Sure! The key is to enable "Post Processing" in the Octane Render settings and make sure "Render Post Effects" is checked in the Render Passes settings. This will allow the glares to appear on a separate pass. A quick screenshot of your Render Passes tab would help too!
