Hey all,
I have a simple cloner set up so i have a grid of cubes. I want the texture to appear as if each cube is unique, but my texture is applied in the same exact position on each cube. So it looks like an exact copy of the original cube. Is there any way to randomize the transformation of the texture im using as a roughness map?
Please note, im not using Multi-Instance or Render Instance.
Thanks.

thanks for the link.
Just so you know, im purely an artist and challenged at overly techie software so please bare with me. Im trying to understand where you got the "Texture Projection" osl node. There isnt an option for that in 2021.1 unless the name has changed. Please see screen shot.
I think this is a special script. So an artist with no coding experience wouldnt be able to get this solution without someone writing the osl code for them? If so, i hope you guys are striving to make the software more artist friendly. I would like to focus on my concepting, color, composition, lighting, and meeting project deadlines rather than learning code to find solutions to make octane work with c4d.
The octane plugin for c4d is specific to c4d. I would think octane would have very straightforward ways to handle texturing cloner objects in a random fashion.
Just my two cents. (please dont take this as a jab at octane. I love octane).
On given page there is osl script included to download. Also you can always do that using standard C4D Mograph techniques and recreate it by using MG Color or Multi shader nodes in Octane.

The MG Color Shader doesnt let you get unique projections per clone. Thats why Bebe recommended the OSL shader. Also my point wasnt that the osl script wasnt available. My point was that it would be nice if there was a way to do this in octane without having to write a script.SSmolak wrote:On given page there is osl script included to download. Thanks for your input though.

You have right. It should be native also Octane still doesn't support vertex map to drive displacements :/
Generally Octane is still bad compared to other renderers if you want manipulate textures by instances or even polygons.
This script is little tricky and not as intuitive but it works :

Hi,
the presets are designed to create OSL Textures, not projection.
But you just need to create a Texture Projection node, and change the Projection mode to OSL Projection: Then you can paste the code, or set the Script category to Projection, and use some presets: ciao,
