Hey Can anyone advise me whether it's possible to exclude certain lights from a volume with octane c4d?
I've tried setting the lights to, say, "light ID pass: 6", then adding an octane object tag to the volume and unchecking light pass mask 6, but it doesn't seem to work.
I run into situations really often where I want to add a highlight or a rim light to a specific object that's inside a volume, but I can't because the light shows up in the fog
Here's a scene I'm currently working on; I've got the reflections on the front faces of the slot machines looking how I want, but it requires me to put an area light just above each machine. Except they show up in the fog.
I notice if I turn off "affect diffuse" in the lights, they stop affecting the fog, but they also stop lighting up the slot machine too (they only give specular reflections), which is not what I want
Is this at all possible?
I find Octanes light linking to be quite cumbersome and confusing, I really wish it would just natively integrate with Cinema's Project> Include/exclude tab!
Excluding certain lights from fog volume?

I managed to get around the problem in this specific instance by splitting my fog volume into two half-sized volumes and positioning them on either side of the problem lights, with a gap down the middle.
That fixed it for this specific shot, but if we could have the option to exclude lights from affecting volumes, that would be awesome!
Possibly something like how in redshift there's the slider for "volume contribution scale". So you can dial up or down how much you want the light to show up in the volume fog scattering

It's for sure a high priority feature on our roadmap, and planned after custom AOV, memory / geo overhaul work in the coming months wraps up.

Good news. Just ran into this myself. Add vote.Goldorak wrote:It's for sure a high priority feature on our roadmap, and planned after custom AOV, memory / geo overhaul work in the coming months wraps up.

If I have a light, or emissive object or anything in the fog, I can not hide that light/ object, meaning you will see the outline of said light.
Makes lighting objects within a fog volume very difficult.
