I've been wresting with this. I have a simple scene. When I just turn on "render AOV group" it doesn't crash but it doesn't give me a cryptomatte. If I turn on AOVs it crashes every time. I've tried a number of things including following a successful example on youtube and looking at the docs (which appear to be out of date). I've attached my settings and the crash. I've tried looking at the logs but it tells me very little.
Any ideas or is this a support ticket??

There's not any scene, try to attach it. Also what's the steps to reproduce it the crash? And what's your version information?

I think you should have what you need now....
In terms of reproducing it, I simply try to render it either to picture viewer or in the queue.
step 1. select render/render scene to picture viewer
alt
step 1 add to render queue
step 2 render
In both cases the plugin will crash (as show above) and usually cinema will crash as well....either crash outright or hang so you have to kill it.
Hey,
I've had the same problem.
After a bit of testing it was the "INSTANCE" cryptomatte that make Octane crash. You have to get rid of it.
All the others cryptomatte outputs are working. I use to use the INSTANCE as well, I thought it was quite handy, but would not give any consistent output.
If you changed the geometry and scene you wouldn't be able to re export and have the same cryptomatte names.
You can try GEOMETRY NODE NAME, which will output the exact name of each of your geometry.
Although if you got a cloner, it will only output a single name.
