Hi,
some c4d objects have different subdivision for Viewport/Live View and Picture Viewer.
Always better to set the same subdivision for both.

A trick is to disable all the Subdivision Surface objects in the scene, and apply to them an Octane Object tag, with the same Live View subdivision settings in the proper tab.

In this way, the subdivision will be applied only at render time, the scene will be much easy to export and handle, and the polygon count will be the same between Live View and Picture Viewer.

ciao,
Beppe

Although that didn't help directly it got me try something else tho! I swapped meshes inside octane scatter with 'instance' objects. Which brought the scene polycount down a lot.

Btw does octane have an issue with instance objects in "multi instance" mode? (Same question for the cloner object)

And does scatter objects support psr animations via an effector? Viewport preview shows it's animating when I leave the scatter display in box mode but doesn't show animations when in object mode (haven't checked it after rendered tho)

Thanks for the quick reply as always

Rather than asking like this please share your example. Not sure which issue you are talking about.

it was a pretty generic question - Does Octane for c4d support "multi instance" mode for scatter object (using mesh instance instances under a scatter object) and on cloner objects?

I have stopped rendering to the Picture Viewer when using Octane, I just save from the Live Viewer, and the amount of crashes I've had has reduced massively.

So you are not aware of solutions and optimisations! You are an old user and most of people with problems. That's interesting to me
