It could come from a scene saved from some particular versions of max plugin, when the 'Material layer' was introduced.
Could you check and post the version that you see in Tools tab, rollout '1.9 version support' : in 'Current Scene', it should show the 'Octane version'.
I'll try to create a similar scene..
Also, could you try to enable 'Fix invalid material layer group' in Preferences, Material tab ? That could fix the issue..
Thanks
The fix was already enabled, but an old version could have caused it. I work with old scenes from time to time. Sometimes even from 2016.
Will keep an eye on it and report back if I get this error again.

Hi Paride,
Can we get an option where the sun can have its own color? We need the moon to be yellow but the sky blue. Unfortunately we cannot do it since changing the sun changes the sky color around it
Also would be nice to have an option to control crescent moon and not just have the full moon. Ideally we need the moon system too.
Thanks

Hi coilbook,
features like these need to be introduced in the SDK, plugins can't it.

BUG!!! Object Properties and Octane object properties bug -> Visible to Camera and Hide works identically in render. When switch Visible to Camera off objects hides from render (but still in viewport) but no reaction on shadow or other objects. There is no way to make only dropshadow without visible object.

Is this truly your "solution"?? I have to mess up with render layers because you broke the easy Object Properties feature in some versions? It was well integrated until then.

Hi,
I misrepresented the post, I thought he needed shadows as a layer. Actually visible to the camera option does not seem to work.
Sent it to Devs.

Hi,
I never use Octane camera.
It is the first time I use for a job and I have a question :
When I switch to a camera, and render in viewport I don't have the right setting ( at last for exposure )
I need to change exposure value ( 1.5 to , then 3 to 1.5 ) to have 1.5 value in the viewport.
Anybody confirm ? Thanks

If you set everything the same as Camera in the rendering setup it should look the same.

Did you set the Aces? Linear etc?
