Hi. I just watched two tutorials on YouTube of someone who brought in some assets (plants) from Megascans to scatter in C4D using Octane. In both of the tutorials, they created a glossy material and a diffuse material and mixed them together with a mix material. They said they did this to achieve translucency, though I don't really understand the logic to it.
Both of those tutorials were done in 2020. I just brought in a Megascans asset into C4D and the material was a Universal material (something I am not entirely familiar with though I am intending to learn more about it). It has a translucency map plugged into the Transmission port of the material.
Do I still need to duplicate the material, set one to glossy and one to diffuse and put them together in a mix material, or are those tutorials out of date and should I just go with the material that was provided to me from Megascans?
Thank you!

Hi,
Universal materials is enough, in general, check that the Transmission is set to Diffuse, instead of Specular.
If you want to mix it, please avoid to use the Mix material, and use the Composite material instead.
ciao,
Beppe
