I just tried the Octane X PR7 Metal installs on my 16GB M1 Mac Mini. But the Octane X Server file is not opening. I click on it and absolutely NOTHING happens. Octane X PR7 Blender opens fine but I can't render anything without the server active.

Please advise.

Hey bump on this.

Can any dev let me know if Octane X for Blender is supposed to work on Mac M1? Because while the Blender app itself opens, the server does not (also why is the server app itself over 1 GB when the PC server app is tiny).

The Metal app are bigger for macOS 11 (at the moment) due to duplication of GPU resources across Apple Silicon, AMD (multiple gens going back to 2013) and Intel - not to mention ARM/x86 overlap in universal binaries. This will go down significantly in future versions once we have some improvements in Metal that are planned in future updates.

We are looking into why M1 OctaneServer isn't working. Can you confirm standalone works? Have you tested other plug-ins?

I can confirm Stand Alone works, but is pretty unstable. I reported 2 issues with SA over at the Stack beta forum in the applesilicon thread. If you need any logs let me know and provide instructions on how to generate those.

I did not test any other plugins. I do have Poser but am not likely to install it on the M1 Mac Mini. I'm not even sure if it is supported yet on that platform and OS?

If the scene is in the beta slack we can work from there, let's get Beppe to take a look too.
