"There is no CUDA device which is supported by Octane Render", when attempting to render within CINEMA 4D R20 with Octane Demo.

I'm using a Mac Pro (2013)
Graphics - AMD FirePro
macOS - Big Sur v11.4

The Octane X download appears be rendering the Target scenes fine.

Do I need a e-GPU w NVIDIA cards to use Octane?

Apologies for the ultra-noob question....

Hi,
there is no demo version for c4doctaneX for Big Sur, probably you have installed the CUDA version instead.

You need C4D OctaneX PR11 Big Sur Free Prime plugin, available at OTOY shop page here:
https://render.otoy.com/shop/primex.php

Here is the direct link
https://render.otoy.com/plugindownloads ... e-PR11.zip

It is limited to max 1x GPU, and it requires Big Sur 11.2 or greater.

You should need to have a Mac from 2016 or newer, but MacPro 2013 is an exception, AMD Fire Pro GPUs are supported with Big Sur Metal driver, but AI Denoiser is not available in your Mac Pro 2013.
In OctaneX, AI Denoiser is performed via CPU, not GPU, but you should need a CPU from 2015 or newer for performing AI Denoiser with OctaneX.
Older CPUs do not have the necessary instructions for AI Denoiser.

Thank you for the response! That's great news - that my old AMD Firepro's have been grandfathered in & work with Octane X.

I had previously downloaded the correct version, but I've deleted everything and reinstalled. Now the C4D plug-in is working. It must have been operator error the first time.

Very happy to that I can try out the renderer without having to make a hardware investment (especially with components so scarce right now!) -
