I have a v4 licence and think that I need a subscription to use an RTX 3080 Ti?

I also know there is an issue with LW2019 and RTX 30xx cards (my copy just blinks out of existence when launching if I have the 3080 Ti
as my main internal GPU).

I currently have an external Amfeltec Multi GPU Cluster with 3 x GTX 1080 Ti on, and an RTX 2080 Ti in my PC. I was hoping that the 3080 Ti would replace that internal 2080 Ti, but as it crashes LW 2019, I'd be happy to just add it to the cluster. As it would only then be a render node, I'm assuming it won't crash LightWave?

Would anyone know if this theory is correct, and if so, am I correct in thinking I need to buy a subscription to a newer version of Octane?

I guess another option would be to install the 3080 Ti into a spare PC box I have here and run it as a network node. Again, not sure of the process for this - what to buy etc.

Any help/advice greatly appreciated!

To answer my own question. Windows 10 drivers don't seem to allow a 3080 Ti and a 2080 Ti to be seen on the same PC at the same time for me, so I've added the 3080 Ti to another box and using it via network rendering in Octane, which is working well.

I think it's not that (mixing 20X0 and 30X0) but problem with LW 2019 and all Nvidia 30X0 GPUs, i have 3060 and i can't start Layout 2019.1.5, always crashes, if i use 2080Ti or any other 20x0 series it works fine.

BUT if you use 30X0 with LW 2018, 2015 or 2020 then it's fine so there is something weird in Layout 2019.1.5 (modeler works) that is not compatible with Nvidia 30X0 GPU drivers.
There is topic on NewTek Forums about those crashes,

Is Octane V4.05 not compatible with any RTX card, including the 2080 ti, or is it just the 30xx series?

I use a bunch of 2070 and 3080ti on 2019 and 2020 without problems anywhere, but 2020 still works more stable, especially on large and complex scenes.

Hi,
It is just the 30xx serie… 20xx serie works just fine with v4.05.
Best.
