Hey guys. I love Octane X, please keep up the good work!
But i have one problem: I am constantly getting dropped / skipped frames when exporting an animated scene from C4D to an ORBX-File for rendering on RNDR. So the final Animation seems to stutter when playing it back. There is no pattern recognizeable. Sometimes its just 1 frames, the other time there are 10 frames in a row missing. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help.
Jo

Hey Beppe. Thanks for the quick answer.
This is exactly the problem I am facing and the suggested workaround just did the trick. YES! Finally.
Works perfectly now with the last bigger scene I tested.

Maybe this information helps with finding the problem:
I just re-rendered 2 scenes I exported and uploaded to RNDR back in October 2020 with PR6 on Catalina for testing.
Both animated scenes (each more than 250 frames) had no issues at all. So it seems the "glitch" in the ORBX-Export
must have come later on into the C4D-Plugins?

Hi all, hoping you can help me. I exported a scene from C4D to orbx, and because there's displacement going on it turned it into an alembic (.abc). When opening the orbx in Octane X (and studio 2020) only a few instances of the geometry.abc are connected to the material node. Is there a way to select multiple instances of the alembic node simultaneously? (shift select doesn't work in any of the viewports). There's more than 2.500 instances so I'm not doing it by hand!
Cheers and thanks!
Ps. how do you attach a screenshot here?

Hi Remyrond,
to add a screenshot, or example scene, please choose "Upload attachment", while editing the message: About exporting issue, do you have some c4d shaders in your scene (with the exception of Noise and Gradient c4d shaders)?
If yes, remove them, and enable the OSL translation in c4doctane Settings/C4D Shaders panel.
Are you using Octane Scatter with animated assets, if yes, it cannot work, and must be replaced with a C4D MoGraph cloner.
ciao Beppe

Is Otoy still planning to develop OctaneX? The last update was in April and the current version cannot be used normally. This beautiful window pops up on average every 5 minutes. In every newly started project.

Hi,
please completely disable the Intel GPU in Octane Settings/Devices panel, also for Tonemap, if present, and render only with AMD GPU for now.
You need to go to c4doctane Settings Devices panel, and disable all the checkboxes:

I'm not using an Intel GPU, I know it causes a lot of bugs. Unfortunately, turning it off does not save me from error.
These are caused by small shader changes like a rescaling in UV Transfrom, sometimes even a simple color change in RGB Spectrum. The program switches itself off an average of 10-15 times per hour.
MacOS 11.4 is installed. I have to admit, it's hard to do anything on Octane X

It would be nice if the octane plug-in will disable the Intel one by default! ...instead of the other way around .......mine doesn't stick for some reason then I keep having to turn the damn thing off ! if you're not going to supportt it for now ..i would suggest..the devs..directly just completely disable it and turn it off until you're ready to support it
.
it really causes us to have to fiddle around with things all the time
I've had like three or four users totally say that this isn't working just have it be that almost every time
it just looks bad from a customer point of view ease of use thing.
