Hi cjadams,
yes the test it definitely not esaustive, it is just to have a rough idea of the performance.
To have the real picture, we need to wait for 2021.1 stable SDK with proper Octanebench supporting both CUDA and Metal GPUs at the same time.
Also, I think that currently the M1 test has been done under Rosetta 2, so still to early to judge the new Apple Silicon GPUs in action.
Happy Mac GPU rendering,
ciao Beppe

Unfortunately the problem is still here.
Ok, don't worry, now I think it can't be resolved because it is too much deep inside the octane code (even if it is a so stupid, but devastating, problem), so I will not bother you anymore for the mac version.
Thank you for all the time you spent.
Bye
Gianluca

Hi guys im new with Octane. Im on Mac Big Sur 11.2.3 Intel Iris 655 and Octane Prime PR11 whenever I try to render something with octane material or object in c4d (s21) it goes Compute error 2097152
and Octane materials don't show just black squares. Standalone works well. but what to do with c4d?

I can't find the Color Managment tab in settings. Is there another way to use OCIO and ACES colorspace in Octane X?
Is there a solution in sight for older Macpro users which dont have an AVX2 capable CPU for denoising? This is a pretty big issue to me. 2 x Macpro 5,1 here with with intel X5670... would a software emulation make any sense?
Specs: Apple MacBook Pro M1 max 64GB 2TB, MacOS 12.5 / MacPro 5,1 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8G, MacOS 10.13.6 / Mac Pro 5,1 with AMD RX5700 8G, MacOS 12.3.1 / HP Z600 with NVIDIA 3060 RTX 12G, Windows 10 pro + Netstor GPU box, 4 x NVIDIA GTX 980ti 6G.
@ alexnesh: Intel GPUs have issues with OpenGL and Materials preview, Standalone doesn’t have this part.
Before loading a scene in Live View, please go to Live View menu Options, and disable both OpenGl and materials preview: @ peterbartel: Color Management, ACRS/OCIO support has been added in 2020.2 SDK.
OctaneX is still based on 2020.1.5 SDK, so there is not the ACES/OCIO support.
We need to wait for 2021.1 SDK update in the coming weeks.
@ 3dworks: maybe in future there will be a solution…
but for now, better to use them as Render-Nodes, and use a more recent Mac as Workstation, to be able to perform AI Denoiser.
ciao Beppe
