Hello,

I downloaded both, the new PR11 Blender, and the respective Octane Server PR11 for OSX METAL + Big Sur. When launching the render, I get a message that I am running the wrong Server Version.
I performed a clean install. No prior versions were installed. Rebooted, made sure my Application Support folders were cleaned out. No luck. Still get the message. Is the right file pack in the downloadable zip file?

Had to revert to PR8.

Thanks.

This should be solved shortly. Thanks for reporting it!

Hello,

Looks like an update was made to the download file. It installs and launches now but we traded the "Wrong Server" message for "Server Error".
Wasn't able to make an image come out of it without the Server automatically crashing the minute I hit render.

Thanks.

Hola,

PR11 seems to instantly crash when opening a PR8 scene file.

Thanks.

or this build is not supported anymore.

the whole licensing system is such an enourmous pain in the rear its incredible

I have had my fortitude tested by Octane for Blender on many levels, including the license/subscription issue, but I keep coming back to this:

Once settled in , the Octane image quality is incredibly satisfying.

If you ping support, they should be able to help sort out your issue.

yes, the support is indeed very good and forthcoming.

however i have delivered many reports and ran these software diagnostics and my issues persist.
the reply was along the lines "this seems like a more serious problem, keep you posted".
nothing ever happened but but it seems the latest version is more smooth, when i can get past the licensing issues.

as i wrote many times before - in unreal engine the speed seems much better, albeit with a different set of problems (plugin being in the early stages)

the quality is unsurpassed in my view hence my frustration..

Are you using the OSX version (since this thread is about that)?
It's very important to install both Octane for Blender and the Octane Server in some properly named folders.
I have several version installed and the names are very precise, so to not mismatch Blender and Server versions.
You can only get the " wrong server version" error message when you're mixing up different versions of Blender and Server.

no i am using windows, not wanting to hijack.

its just that each time i try and start blender i have to try 3-4 times on average.
sometimes the server is not running. sometimes i get version not supported. sometime it freezes.

i keep turning off octane in task manager and restarting until it works.

I'm still convinced there must be something wrong with your system when it comes to Octane for Blender. I'm using it on 3 different PCs here, and never had the issues you meet.
Or you may have several versions intalled, some very old (that could be the cause of a "version not supported" message).
One of these days I would like to have a call with you, if you're available, so we can try to check the issues together.
