Hi

Just wondering what I'm doing wrong. I've yet to see any difference in performance turning rtx on, not even 1% increase. Tried several scenes.
Latest Octance 2020.2.3.0, rtx2080, studio driver 461.72.
Turning off mblur makes no difference either.
Any suggestions to why this happens?

Any scenes available for download that shows rtx performance increase?
Thanks

I think that there was an issue in the Houdini plugin with the RTX enable/disable option making it always enabled, so probably this is why you can't see the difference, the plugin never disables the RTX accelleration. In any case, you could export the scene to an .orbx file and check what happens in Standalone. As far as I know currently the RTX acceleration is not compatible with motion blur.

Thanks,

Thanks for chiming in Juanjo, that makes sense.
One place where I see a difference though is in ipr. Turning rtx on makes some scenes very unstable and it crashes Houdini often. Turn it on and it's much more stable. At least from my experience which is why I have it off.

RTX seems not to work in the latest version for houdini. I just noticed it because rendering seemed so slow compared to the demo version i was using before. I tested the same scene in c4d ( latest version ) and it was 2x faster than the houdini version. Can you please look into this?

As far as I know, the problem is that the RTX is always enabled. Be aware that by default the Houdini plugin has the motion blur enabled, and this disables the RTX acceleration. In any case, you could export the scene to a .orbx file and check in the Standalone if the RTX option is working or not. Here in the scenes exported from the IPR it works as expected, always enabled. I'll try to check why the RTX can't be disabled from the plugin's side.

Thanks,

Ok. I can confirm that the latest plugin builds always have the RTX feature enabled. I'll fix the RTX plugin option to let it work in the next build.
