coloured satin or brushed metal

Can anyone help me create a believable coloured metal with a satin or brushed finish? I just can't seem to nail it. I've tried using a glossy material with high IOR in the old way and a metallic material. It either looks a bit plasticky or if I get it more metallic it tends to go grey in the darker areas and not maintain it's colour. I want it to look pink and metallic. The attached pic shows plasticky on left, metallic but grey areas in middle, and where I'm trying to get to on the right.

Any advice gratefully received.

It seems that in your reference there is some coating
