I am testing GSG car paint material and having a problem. I hope it shows up in the attachment - the material is rendering blotchy especially on the panel above the front wheel; ALSO notice the hue shift on the rear panel.

I have tried adjustng the normals on the model; tried cranking up the pathtracing Max. samples much higher than should be necessary (they are at 5000 for this test; going to 10,000 does not improve things much).

De-noising is turned on. Screen grab of the Octane settings is attached.

Hi,
I suspect that the issue is in the illumination
Do you still have so much noise after 5000 sampling to need to run the Denoiser?
Could you share a screenshot without Denoiser applied?

Thank you, Beppe. I have attached close-ups here, with and without denoiser. I think the denoiser is seeing the flakes in the carpaint as noise, and is trying to smooth it out. The problem is, even at 5000 samples, notice the noise in the black material at upper right. I can get that part clean at about 10,000 samples but render time goes up to about 7:20 per frame.
Denoised - looks blotchy

Yes, definitely an issue with flakes, but weird, if you are using our flakes.osl node, AI denoiser should be able to consider it:

Could you share a screenshot of your flakes node settings?
