Since there are no RTX 3090's out there and the price is soooo high to build a PC workstation right now and at then meanwhile there is a waiting for the new M1X (?) which will probably have fantastic results.

Also there are no e-GPUs supported with M1 Macs..

What you suggest me to do cause I am stuck with the C4D's physical render and I want to start learn Octane plugin for C4D..

Any suggestions??

Thanks

Hi,
yes, quite impossible to find good GPUs at a reasonable price at the moment, at least, here in Italy.

M1 chip support is still considered experimental at this stage, and it is still working under Rosetta 2 in Big Sur, at the moment, so it is too early to count on it.

Maybe you could consider the current iMac 27” equipped with AMD 5700XT 16GB, it scores ~184 in OctaneBench, so not bad!
And it works also with eGPU solutions, for future expansion.

Happy Mac GPU rendering,

Ciao Beppe,

I know I tried to find any stock around Italy or Swiss but with no luck.
I thought about iMac but its way to expensive and pretty soon the new iMacs will be out and I am sure that they will kick out the previous ones with their processor and GPU.

What about the https://irendering.net/price/ server? Do you think is reliable to work in such way for just start learn the Octane render?

I tried to find any card here in Italy and also in Swiss but with no luck..

I am not sure about the iMac with 5700XT even though its a very good workstation cause it really expensive and when the new iMacs arrive (hope soon) the M1X processor
will kick out the current iMac.

What about the irendering? is it a good way o start learning at least on a remote workstation?

Ciao è Grazie

Sorry, I don’t know the specific service, we have RNDR for cloud rendering, but you need at least one GPU for preparing the scene to send to RNDR.

Since AMD Big Navi GPUs are going to be supported by Big Sur, I was able to find and order an AMD 6700 12GB... I’ll keep you posted as soon as I’m putting my hands on it!

Happy GPU rendering,
ciao Beppe
