About compositing and matte

I'd like to render a pass with the cars hidden by the bridge, but the bridge does not hide the cars first screeenshitI've tried layer 1 for the bridge and 2 for the cars, os I've tried to put cars on layers 2 and the cars still not hidden ? any idea ?

You're not rendering your Bridge. Its excluded. Render it with the bridge. Bridge and the cars have to have different Object Layer IDs. The hierarchy doesn't matter. Right click on IPR > View Layer
