Hi im currently trying out octane render for houdini and ran into a problem now. Is it possible to get clean displacement results when using it via triplanar protection? Basically i just want to displace my geometry around the x and z aches via triplanar. But for some reason it gives me really weird results it looks kinda blubby ( mesh res is high enough so thats not the problem )

Here are some screenshots.

Why does it give me these weird results is it because of the normals of my mesh? When i use the material on a simple sphere it works fine...

I'm not sure what could be the problem. Can you please share a scene, as simple as possible, to reproduce the problem here?

Thanks,

Yes ofc here's a simplified version of the scene.

Hmm, it is hard to say, but I think that this is the expected behavior because some polygons at the top of the mountain probably are inclined enough to get part of the triplanar textures. I'm not sure how to resolve something like that, to be honest.

Thanks,
