Can I mix octane X (Metal) and OctaneRender 2020 (CUDA) render nodes over net render?

You cannot mix Metal and Cuda over net render - yet - Octane X is a version ahead of CUDA, and we need to sync them together after Octane X macOS 11 and after OctaneRender 2020.2 are done. The release after those is where we would have the first opportunity to support mixed Metal/CUDA network rendering.
Is this working already? Because im working with a MAC and windows/Nvidea based render PC. Anyone knows?
Any news about 2021.1 with shared Win/Cuda + OSX/Metal Net Render Nodes?
Hardly awaiting it.

Looking forward your replay. Thank you so much!
Hi,
please, next time, use the Upload attachment button to add your screenshots, when you compose your message.

The plugin seems installed correctly, probably the issue is in materials or geometry.
Please, open the scene, then go to c4doctane Settings/Other tab, and, at the bottom of the panel, enable all the Log option checkboxes.
Then, load the scene in Live View, then in Picture Viewer, or until crash, then reopen c4d, navigate to c4doctane Settings/Other tab, press the Generate log report button, and share the octanelog_report.zip file, thanks.

@ atoyuser1: I have a solution, but it is not very elegant :D
You need to take this guy here:
https://www.akitio.com/expansion/node-duo

Then remove the cover, and modify the fan position to be able to mount 2x full length GPUs:

Then use an external PSU for powering the GPUs:

It is quite a mess for the cables, but it works great, and super silent :D

Can I ask, is this the PSU you used? https://www.scan.co.uk/products/550w-ev ... fire-ready

Hi atoyuser1,
yes correct!
The wattage depends on the type of GPU you are going to connect.

Happy GPU rendering,

@bepeg4d Apple has removed most of the references for Navi2x from the Navi1X kexts with 11.3 Beta 1, now with 11.3 Beta 5 there is still nothing in it to support Big Navi.

@bepeg4d Does this demo mode activate even during an active render? I'm having issues with big lengthy renders getting stuck on the next to last render pass and thus never finalising and saving out the result. Currently this makes it impossible to get any kind of big renders out the door. Not good.

Hi,

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2019)
Radeon Pro 560X 4 ГБ
Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 МБ
Cinema 4D R23
BigSur (11.2.3)

I adjust the materials, turn on the Live Viewer and give this error (Screenshot). If you configure materials with the Live Viewer enabled, it gives the same error.
What to do?

I tried to solve this problem by researching the forum but couldn't solve it. I doing something wrong?
I'm a newbie, so apologize in advance if I asked a silly question.

Thanks!

Hello,

I am having a bit of a problem with Octane X running on Cinema 4D R23 on Big Sur (11.2.3).
Machine is an iMac Pro (2017)
2,3 GHz 18-Core Intel Xeon W
128 GB 2666 MHz DDR4
Radeon Pro Vega 64X 16 GB

With PR7 I had the following problems:

- Denoise not working (known problem)
- Whenever I use a bump map together with Roughness map on a specular material, the iMac crashes (log out), not only on complex models and materials, even on a simple sphere with just a noise on roughness channel and noise on bump. It's always crashing no matter what.

Updated to PR8 yesterday and it's not recognising my GPU (grayed out) and on the live viewer I get a message in red saying "External Renderer", as soon as I click the settings button on the live viewer, Cinema 4D crashes.

Anyone is having the same issue? I am paying a subscription and I am learning Octane, but honestly I don't see the point in paying for a software that's not working.

PR7 worked smoothly beside those two problems.

Thanks
