Hi All
Hoping someone can help with this.
Im a C4D/Octane hobbyist.
So to start, i'm currently using Octane V4.05-R7. I have this as perpetual licence. I use Octane exclusively through C4D.
I would like to update to a more current version of Octane, as I intend on joining the SoM / David Ariew Octane course, which I believe requires Octane 2020.
I would rather not be on the subscription per month model. I like the deal I have at the moment, where i don't have to pay as i go. That I have it in perpetuity is more my preference.
There is an option on my account, in Licence to;
'Upgrade to OctaneRender Annual Maintenance' (1 year) (€199)
There is also 2 other options for;
'Upgrade to OctaneRender Enterprise Upgrade + 1 years Annual Maintenance' (1 year) (€499)
'Upgrade to OctaneRender Enterprise Upgrade + 2 years Annual Maintenance' (1 year) (€699)
I have a FEW questions regarding this.
1 - Which is the correct option to spring for? I think i have reached the end of the line for V4 in terms of upgrades available. So I'm not sure the Annual Maintenance is right, but please let me know if I'm wrong.
2 - If i go for the OctaneRender Enterprise Upgrade - is that a licence that I also have access to in perpetuity?
3 - If i go for the OctaneRender Enterprise Upgrade - what version of Octane does that give me access to?
4 - If i go for the OctaneRender Enterprise Upgrade - do i no longer have access to my current V4 licence.
5 - If i go for the OctaneRender Enterprise Upgrade - does this cover the C4D plugin also, or is there another cost for the C4D plugin after the fact?
Sorry, i know this is not the most interesting of posts, and a bit of an ask.
But i'd love some clarity, and looking forward to getting my hands on some new features to play with.
Appreciate your time and feedback.
M
Confused about updating my Octane version.

Hi Michael,
1. The maintenance is less expensive but you go back to v4 at the end of the period, while the Upgrade is more expensive but you will stay with 2020, at the end of the annual maintenance.
2. Yes.
3. You have access to any version available in the Downloads section.
4. Yes you have access to v4.
5. both upgrading solutions are offering you the possibility to use any kind of Octane DCC plugins (including C4D, Maya, or whatever, and OctaneX), and also the ORC/RNDR Octane Render Cloud subscriptions (render credits need to be purchased separately).
Happy GPU rendering,
ciao Beppe
