Hello Otoy,
I have a specular material, that im using for water. Im using a gradient in the opacity channel to which lets me fade the material out to "0" opacity. But i noticed that the refraction is NOT affected by the gradient. Am i missing something? I thought opacity would take care of it.
Please note: I also tried a vertex map and get the same issue. The water is still showing a reflection where it should be 0 percent opacity.

Solved.
Turns out the object that had the specular material on it was intersecting with a VDB volume object.
In this case, the specular material with a gradient in the opacity channel doesnt behave as one would naturally expect.
